Summary
The HR Generalist will lead day-to-day HR operations across benefits administration, compliance, employee lifecycle support, HR systems, and process improvement initiatives. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers while supporting strategic HR programs that strengthen culture, compliance, and organizational growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in HR operations, compliance, reporting, and employee support within a fast-paced professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day HR operations across benefits administration, compliance, employee lifecycle activities, and employee support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related inquiries, partnering with brokers and vendors to resolve issues effectively
- Administer leave of absence programs and respond to employee questions regarding leave policies
- Oversee offboarding processes including exit interviews and documentation, partnering with the HR Coordinator as needed
- Manage time-off programs and maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS system
- Build trusted relationships with employees and managers, serving as a reliable HR resource for day-to-day support
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee data across HR systems and develop reporting and analytics to support business decisions
- Oversee immigration processes for new hires and existing employees, coordinating with external legal counsel as needed
- Monitor federal, state, and local employment laws to ensure compliance and proactively address regulatory changes
- Ensure timely completion of required government reporting including EEO-1, Form 5500, and 401(k) audits
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve HR processes through technology and process improvements
- Regularly review and update the Employee Guidebook to ensure policies remain current and consistently applied
- Support annual benefits open enrollment, development planning, compensation reviews, bonus cycles, and employee engagement initiatives
- Contribute to HR strategic projects that support organizational growth and strengthen company culture
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of progressive HR experience with strong exposure to benefits administration, compliance, HR systems, and employee lifecycle management
- Strong understanding of employment laws, HR compliance practices, and government reporting requirements
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality with sound judgment
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and reporting with the ability to use data and technology to improve efficiency and processes
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
- HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot or leveraging AI and emerging technologies in HR operations is a plus
- Prior experience in engineering, construction, or professional services environments preferred
