Job Description: Job Summary
The Digital Forensics & eDiscovery team is seeking a Jr. Forensics & eDiscovery Specialist to support a growing practice. This is an entry? to mid?level role designed for a motivated professional with foundational experience in digital forensics, eDiscovery, cybersecurity, legal operations, or information technology.
This position supports increased team capacity as new forensic and eDiscovery tooling is rolled out. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced senior examiners on active investigations, legal data collections, and process improvement initiatives. Under the guidance of the Director of Digital Forensics & eDiscovery, the individual will participate in the full lifecycle of forensic work—from intake and collection through analysis, reporting, and case closure.
This role is ideal for someone who is detail?oriented, professionally curious, and comfortable working at the intersection of technology and law. Prior hands?on experience with forensic or eDiscovery tools is strongly preferred, along with a willingness to learn and grow in a structured, case?driven environment.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Schedule: Onsite presence required 2–3 days per week
Certain collections or investigations may require additional onsite availability on short notice
Candidates must be local to the Chicago area
Key Responsibilities
Support digital forensic and eDiscovery matters under the supervision of senior examiners
Participate in the full forensic lifecycle, including intake, collection, analysis, reporting, and case closure
Assist with legal holds, data collections, and evidence handling in a defensible manner
Adhere to chain of custody and evidence handling best practices
Contribute to process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
Work within ticketing or case management systems to track work and maintain documentation
Collaborate with technical, legal, and operational stakeholders as needed
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
An equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Experience
1–3 years of professional or internship experience in one or more of the following areas:
Digital forensics or incident response
eDiscovery, legal operations, or litigation support
Cybersecurity analysis or IT operations
Paralegal or legal technology roles
Law enforcement or government forensics (civilian or sworn)
Exposure to or hands?on use of forensic or eDiscovery tools is strongly preferred, including:

Nuix
Relativity
Academic project work, capstone research, internships, or personal lab experience in digital forensics or cybersecurity will be considered
Technical Skills
Working familiarity with Windows and macOS, including file systems such as NTFS, APFS, and FAT
Basic understanding of email architecture and Microsoft 365 platforms, including Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
Exposure To Forensic Concepts Such As

Chain of custody
Hash verification (MD5, SHA?256)
Forensic imaging
Evidence handling best practices
Familiarity With EDiscovery Concepts Including
Electronically Stored Information (ESI)

EDRM framework

Comfort working in ticketing or case management systems (experience with Exterro Fusion is a plus)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication
