The Senior Human Resources Manager serves as a strategic and hands-on HR lead for our North American division. This role partners closely with leadership and people managers to align human resources practices with business objectives, fostering a high-performance culture, employee engagement, and organizational growth.
The Senior Human Resources Manager is responsible for delivering HR solutions across employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation, compliance, employee engagement, leadership coaching, workforce planning, and organizational development. As a key member of the leadership team, you will help build scalable people processes appropriate for a dynamic and evolving business environment.
This hybrid position is primarily based at our Chicago office, with a required on-site presence of at least three days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering:
- Lead the People Strategy: Partner with the Leadership Team and Global HR Director to define and execute a people strategy that supports commercial objectives.
- Organizational Development: Drive talent management, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives to build high-performing teams.
- Change Management: Act as a trusted advisor on organizational design, culture transformation, and change management as the business evolves.
Operational Excellence & Governance:
- Operational Oversight: Maintain accountability for the end-to-end HR lifecycle. Oversee payroll and benefits to ensure efficient delivery of payroll and compliance. Proactively identify opportunities to standardise processes, systems & documentation.
- Talent Acquisition: Lead recruitment strategies for all roles and partner with hiring managers to identify talent needs and improve hiring effectiveness. Oversee the onboarding and integration processes for new employees.
- Compensation & Benefits: Lead the healthcare benefit agenda to ensure affordability and competitiveness. Oversee 401(k) governance, ensuring appropriate trustee reviews and compliance with fiduciary standards. Support compensation planning, market benchmarking, and salary administration, including annual salary review and bonus planning processes.
- Matrix Collaboration: Operate seamlessly across the matrix organisation, partnering with global HR teams to optimise capabilities and unlock opportunities for greater collaboration and innovation.
- Data & Insights: Analyse workforce trends and HR metrics to inform business decisions, translating data into actionable insights and presenting clear recommendations and outcomes to leadership.
- Legal Collaboration: Partner with the legal department to navigate complex employee relations matters, investigations, and policy updates, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws
Culture & Employee Experience:
- DE&I Leadership: Champion Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging efforts within the North American market, translating global goals into local action.
- Employee Relations: Act as the primary HR resource for employee relations matters. Coach managers on employee performance, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and employee development, whilst fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture.
- Employee Engagement: Design and deliver people-focused programmes that strengthen inclusion, engagement, and team connectivity across a hybrid workforce.
A bit about you…
Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 to 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with specific exposure to the CPG or Retail industry preferred.
- Compliance: Deep understanding of local, multi-state, and federal employment regulations and laws.
- Leadership: Experience managing or mentoring HR professionals (direct reporting experience preferred).
- Global/Matrix Mindset: Proven ability to work in a matrix organization, taking directions from a global team while operating with autonomy locally.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of HRIS concepts and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
