Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a
HR Specialist to join our HR Shared Services team! In this role, you will be responsible for data entry into our Human Capital Management (HCM) system, maintaining the integrity of the data, and supporting critical HR processes such as pay changes, promotions, hires, terminations, and transfers. You will partner directly with HRBPs and Managers to ensure pay details and timesheets are correctly entered in HR systems and accurately paid. Our goal is a defect-free pay experience for every Team Member every week – our Pay People Perfectly initiative.
What You'll Do
- Support weekly (hourly) and bi-weekly (salaried) payroll for over 18,000 Team Members across multiple sites using Workday and UKG Timesheet software
- Audit, enter, and update payroll records including terminations, job changes, benefit deductions, compensation, department transfers, and more
- Review entries to ensure payroll accuracy before submitting records to the Payroll Team
- Process retroactive pay adjustments as necessary
- Manage attendance records and update current and retrospective timesheets
- Maintain confidentiality and protect payroll information and team member data
- Collaborate with external vendors, such as Experian, to support unemployment claims, WOTC, and verifications
- Collect and submit documentation for legal requests, including payroll data and HR records
- Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job aids, and other reference materials to optimize HR operations
- Complete Personnel File request, Medical Support Notices, and HIPPA Reporting
- Resolve cases through ServiceNow, our case management system
What You'll Need
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 2+ years of payroll/benefits experience, ideally handling payroll for 500+ hourly employees
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven customer service orientation, with professional interaction across all organizational levels
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Self-motivated, flexible, and committed to ethical conduct and confidentiality
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Workday, UKG Pro WFM for Time & Attendance, or ServiceNow
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local labor laws and tax regulations
