The role
We are looking for a VP of Finance & Operations to join Neno's leadership team and own two of the most critical functions in scaling a multi-market AI financial services company: the financial engine that drives decision-making and the operational infrastructure that makes execution possible and predictable.
This is a founding leadership role. You will report directly to the CEO and sit alongside the VP Engineering, VP of Product and VP of Accounting as one of four functional leaders shaping how Neno scales to Series A and beyond.
The right person for this role combines the rigour of a trained finance professional with the instincts of an operator. You think in systems, move fast without losing precision, and understand that in a company of our size, the VP of Finance & Operations is often the difference between controlled scaling and avoidable chaos. You will also be a central figure in our next fundraise. Neno is actively building toward its Series A and you will own the financial narrative, data room and investor-facing materials that support that process.
What Impact You Will Have
- Own the financial operating model that drives every major decision at Neno, from hiring plans to market expansion sequencing to pricing strategy.
- Build the investor reporting infrastructure and lead financial preparation for Neno's Series A raise and beyond.
- Design and maintain the treasury, cash management and financial controls framework.
- Own regulatory and compliance oversight across the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Spain, ensuring Neno stays ahead of its obligations as it scales.
- Be the financial counterpart to the CEO in board meetings, investor conversations and strategic planning sessions.
- Lead, hire and develop the internal finance team as the function grows
Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Own and continuously evolve Neno's three-statement financial model, integrating actuals, rolling forecasts and scenario planning.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly reforecast cadence across all business units.
- Produce board-ready financial reporting: P&L, cash flow, cohort analysis, unit economics and KPI dashboards.
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to translate financial data into strategic decisions, pricing, hiring, expansion sequencing and capital allocation
Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Lead financial preparation for Neno's Series A raise: data room construction, financial narrative, investor Q&A materials and due diligence support
- Maintain the investor reporting pack and ensure monthly and quarterly updates, timely and strategically framed
- Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective institutional investors alongside the CEO.
- Model and pressure-test capital deployment scenarios to ensure Neno is always operating with appropriate runway visibility.
Treasury & Financial Controls
- Manage Neno's treasury function: cash positioning, liquidity planning and banking relationships.
- Design and enforce the internal financial controls, approval workflows and audit-readiness standards appropriate for a regulated multi-market FinTech
- Own month-end and year-end close processes in coordination with the VP Accounting.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors and legal counsel across all four markets
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Maintain a clear, current view of Neno's regulatory obligations across the Netherlands and expansion markets Belgium, Italy and Spain
- Work closely with VP of Accounting to align compliance calendars, entity structures and cross-border reporting requirements
- Oversee licensing and regulatory developments relevant to Neno's product and geographic expansion, flagging risks and opportunities to the CEO.
- Manage corporate governance: entity structuring, board minutes, statutory filings and shareholder administration
Operations & Internal Infrastructure
- Own Neno's operational systems: procurement, vendor contracts, software licensing, office management and internal tooling
- Design and implement scalable internal processes that remove friction as the team and customer base grow
- Own the operational metrics that sit at the heart of commercial performance: customer onboarding throughput, CAC by channel and segment, payback period and the levers that move them working closely with Sales, Marketing and Customer Engagement to drive continuous improvement
- Identify operational inefficiencies across the business and drive structural improvements, you are the person who makes the machine run cleaner
AI-Native Workflows
- Use AI tools (e.g., Claude) daily to accelerate financial analysis, scenario modelling, report drafting, regulatory research and operational process design
- Champion an AI-first approach to finance and operations, building workflows that reduce manual effort and raise the quality of financial decision-making
- Work with our VP Product & VP of Accounting to identify where AI can be embedded into Neno's internal financial and operational processes, not just the client-facing product
What We Are Looking For
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally combining a strong technical foundation with operational seniority inside a high-growth startup or FinTech from seed to series B.
- Proven track record owning FP&A, financial modelling and investor reporting at a venture-backed company, ideally through at least one series A/B fundraising round.
- Background in financial services, SaaS or regulated FinTech is strongly preferred, you understand the specific compliance and capital considerations of our industry
- Prior experience as a VP Finance, CFO, Head of Finance or equivalent in a scaling startup is a hard requirement.
Financial & Analytical Skills
- Expert-level financial modelling: three-statement models, cohort analysis, unit economics and scenario planning
- Deep fluency in SaaS and financial services metrics, you can build, interrogate and stress-test a model, and you know when something does not add up
- Strong command of Dutch GAAP and working familiarity with IFRS; knowledge of Belgian, Italian or Spanish accounting frameworks is a plus
- Experienced with modern finance tooling: Exact Online, Excel/Google Sheets at an advanced level, and comfortable implementing dedicated FP&A software as the function matures.
Operational Range
- You are as comfortable redesigning an onboarding & KYC process as you are presenting to a board, this role demands genuine operational breadth from first touch to commercial to revenue expansion.
- Experience standing up internal controls, compliance frameworks and audit-readiness processes in a fast-moving company
- Familiarity with Dutch and EU employment law, corporate governance requirements and multi-entity administration
- Track record of building and leading small but high-performing finance teams leveraging AI.

- Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong advantage for regulatory navigation and local stakeholder management.
- You lead by raising the standard around you, not by managing output, you hire people better than yourself and get out of their way
