NU Advisory Partners has been retained to lead the search for a Vice President, People for a high-growth, capital-intensive company entering a critical scale phase. This leader will build and lead the full People function, partnering closely with executive and operational leadership to translate rapid growth into structured hiring, strong culture, and scalable people systems. The role requires a hands-on operator who can introduce rigor and process while preserving speed and performance in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities
People Strategy & Infrastructure
- Build and scale the People function to support rapid organizational growth across multiple teams and locations
- Establish core HR systems, processes, and operating cadence to support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing operations
- Translate company priorities into structured, actionable People initiatives
Culture, Performance & Engagement
- Define and reinforce cultural expectations as the organization scales
- Implement performance management, feedback, and calibration frameworks that support high accountability
- Strengthen employee engagement, retention, and internal communication practices
Talent & Workforce Planning
- Partner with Recruiting and leadership to align hiring plans with business needs
- Improve onboarding and early-stage employee experience to accelerate productivity
- Support workforce planning across technical and operational functions
People Operations & Compliance
- Oversee HR operations including policies, employee relations, and compliance
- Ensure consistent and fair practices across a growing, distributed organization
- Manage sensitive employee matters with sound judgment and discretion
Compensation, Benefits & Analytics
- Evolve compensation and total rewards strategy to align with growth stage and market expectations
- Build people analytics capabilities to track performance, retention, and organizational health
- Use data to inform leadership decisions and improve workforce outcomes
Leadership & Team Development
- Build and lead a high-performing People team
- Develop leadership capability across the organization through coaching and structured programs
- Introduce clarity, accountability, and ownership across the People function
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience leading the People or HR function in a high-growth, scaling organization
- Proven ability to build People infrastructure from early or underdeveloped environments
- Strong background across HR operations, performance management, employee relations, and compliance
- Experience supporting rapid headcount growth and organizational expansion
- Ability to operate effectively in complex, operationally intensive environments
- Hands-on operator comfortable building systems while managing day-to-day execution
- Strong judgment and executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Experience building and developing People teams
- Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform People strategy
- This role is based in Los Angeles and requires in-person presence five days per week
