Director of Human Resources
Location: Greater Pittsburgh Area - North of City (Multi-Site Support)
A privately held, multi-location organization is seeking a Director of Human Resources to serve as a key member of the leadership team. This individual will lead both the strategic direction and hands-on execution of HR initiatives across a growing, operationally driven business.
This is a highly visible role partnering directly with executive leadership, supporting a distributed workforce, and helping scale the organization through growth and operational expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement programs to attract, develop, and retain high-performing talent, including succession planning, onboarding, training, and leadership development.
- Lead recruiting strategy in a competitive labor market; forecast workforce needs and execute hiring initiatives aligned with business growth.
- Support organizational growth initiatives, including integration of new team members and evolving workforce structures.
- Coach and advise leaders on employee relations, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
- Partner with executive leadership on benefits strategy, including healthcare planning, renewals, and cost optimization.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on complex employee relations matters, including sensitive and high-impact situations.
- Participate in strategic planning and executive meetings, providing insight on human capital strategy.
- Lead and develop a lean HR team while remaining hands-on in day-to-day HR operations.
- Evaluate and enhance performance management systems to align with business objectives.
- Ensure compensation and benefits programs remain competitive and aligned with market trends.
- Oversee HR policies and programs including leave management, compliance, and employee development initiatives.
- Manage unemployment claims and hearings as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain and optimize HRIS and payroll processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required.
- 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience in a multi-site or operational environment; manufacturing or similar industry exposure is a plus.
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading HR teams and partnering with executive leadership.
