About the Role
Manning Kass is a prestigious law firm headquartered in downtown Los Angeles. We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated entry-level HR Assistant to support our Human Resources team. The HR Assistant reports to the Director of Human Resources and supports the HR function in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This role offers broad exposure to recruiting and onboarding, payroll and benefits, compliance, policies and procedures, training and development, and firmwide special projects which will allow for the opportunity to develop substantive skills and grow within the Firm.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Provide administrative support including file management, calls/emails, mailings, and calendaring.
- Maintain HR records, reports, postings, and required notices.
- Enter and update employee data in the HRIS system.
- Assist with forms and documentation for recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, performance reviews, leave, and exit processes.
- Track and report on compliance training and acknowledgment completion.
- Update HR intranet pages, resources, and communications.
- Coordinate HR meetings and events, including scheduling, materials, minutes, participation tracking, and presentations.
- Support recruiting and onboarding efforts, including job postings, interview scheduling, background checks, offer letters, and new-hire onboarding.
- Support E-Verify and I-9 review and documentation.
- Assist with departmental updates and internal communications.
- Edit and format HR policies, procedures, letters, and forms.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Associate or Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of HR experience in a law firm or professional services environment required.
- PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
- Proficiency with ADP, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Proven confidentiality and discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage time and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Professional demeanor, proactive mindset, and strong initiative.
- Desire to learn and grow in the HR profession.
- Basic understanding of HR principles and employment laws.

Benefits:
- Salary range $55,000- $70,000. Salary is commensurate with experience.
