🚀 Join Orbital Eye as Head of FinanceÂ
At Orbital Eye, we help pipeline and grid operators protect critical infrastructure using satellite imagery, AI, and geospatial technology. Our COSMIC-EYE platform continuously monitors thousands of kilometers of critical infrastructure worldwide, helping operators identify potential threats before they become incidents. As critical infrastructure becomes increasingly important to society, we believe continuous visibility is becoming essential for safer, more reliable, and more sustainable operations.Â
Since 2012, we have been pioneering satellite-powered infrastructure monitoring and today serve customers across Europe, North America, and beyond. Our team of around 40 people, representing 15 nationalities, is scaling toward 80+ across Europe and the US. As we grow, we are building the foundations of a mature organization — and that is where you come in. As we enter our next phase of international growth, we are looking for a Head of Finance to help build the financial foundation that will support our continued expansion.Â
🌍 Why This Role MattersÂ
Today, finance at Orbital Eye operates through a lean model, supported by external specialists across bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and audit. From day one, you will take ownership of this ecosystem—ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and timeliness while determining which capabilities should be brought in-house as the company grows. This is a builder's role. You will inherit a solid but evolving finance function and help transform it into a scalable finance organization capable of supporting a profitable, international company through its next phase of growth.Â
As an AI company, we believe our finance function should be built differently, so rather than layering AI onto traditional processes, you will help design finance operations with AI at their core. That includes monthly and quarterly closes, reconciliations, audit preparation, reporting, and the generation of business insights from financial data. We are looking for someone who is genuinely excited about the potential of AI and eager to define what a modern, technology-enabled finance team can look like.Â
Few finance opportunities offer this combination of scope and impact: ownership of the financial foundation of a multi-entity, multi-currency international group; close partnership with the CFO; meaningful influence on commercial and strategic decision-making; and the backing of a profitable scale-up with significant international growth ahead. The systems, processes, and team you build will directly strengthen investor confidence, improve audit readiness, and increase the speed and quality of decision-making across the business.Â
đź” Your RoleÂ
As Head of Finance, you will:Â
- Own the monthly close, consolidation, and group reporting across our Dutch and US entities, with multi-currency exposure (EUR, USD, and customer-country currencies).Â
- Ensure the quality and integrity of the books under both Dutch GAAP and US GAAP — with the flexibility to adopt IFRS in the future as the group evolves.Â
- Manage the relationship with our external accountant and oversee statutory reporting in both jurisdictions; lead the company through its first formal external audit as the business reaches the size and stage where one is required.Â
- Coordinate tax compliance, transfer pricing, and structuring questions with external tax advisors in the Netherlands and the US.Â
- Manage cash, working capital, and treasury operations — including FX exposure — across our international footprint.Â
- Manage the network of external part-time team members and service providers; over time, build the right in-house team.Â
- Support our Series A round with financial information, due diligence, data room management, and investor reporting.Â
- Support M&A activity as the company scales — from financial due diligence and valuation work to integration of acquired entities.Â
- Strengthen internal controls, ERP processes, and finance systems as the business grows.Â
- Contribute to financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting in close partnership with the CFO. As the company scales, FP&A may evolve into a dedicated function.Â
🚀 What We're Looking ForÂ
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in finance, with a strong technical accounting foundation. Audit firm background combined with an in-house leadership role at a scaling international company is the ideal profile.Â
- RA title — a hard requirement for this role.Â
- Strong consolidation experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.Â
- Solid technical command of Dutch GAAP and US GAAP; comfortable engaging with auditors and tax advisors as an equal. Familiarity with IFRS is a plus.Â
- Proven ability to manage external advisors and service providers, and to know what to insource and when.Â
- Experience supporting funding rounds, grant reporting, or M&A.Â
- Hands-on, self-directed, and energized by building structure rather than maintaining it.Â
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong plus.Â
Please note that we are unable to provide work permit sponsorship for this role. Candidates must have an existing right to work in the Netherlands. We do not accept CVs from third-party recruitment agencies.Â
