Are you ready to be a part of something transformative?
Join the AH Stores team as a Senior AI Engineer and embark on a journey to reshape our traditional technology infrastructure into a modern, cutting-edge technology landscape that touches the lives of millions of customers daily.
As a Senior AI Engineer, you'll play a leading role in driving our GenAI-powered transformation across the Stores landscape. You'll design and build intelligent, microservices-based solutions that leverage modern technologies—combining Kotlin, Python, Kafka, and cutting-edge Generative AI capabilities to create smarter, more adaptive applications.
If you're passionate about integrating AI into real-world systems, shaping next-generation developer practices, and delivering impactful innovations at scale, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
This is how you will reinvent food retail with Generative AI
- Design and build intelligent, GenAI-enabled microservices architectures using Kotlin/Python within the Stores Cluster.
- Embed Generative AI capabilities into products to create smarter, more personalised, and context-aware retail experiences.
- Coach and guide engineers on adopting AI-first development practices, integrating LLMs, and leveraging modern AI toolchains.
- Develop scalable technical solutions aligned with our systems architecture, business processes, and emerging AI capabilities.
- Experiment with and validate GenAI use cases through rapid prototyping and proofs of concept.
- Write high-quality, secure, and maintainable code, with a strong focus on automated testing, responsible AI usage, and code quality.
- Continuously elevate our engineering standards, including best practices for AI integration, observability, and governance.
- Collaborate closely within a product team—contributing to agile ceremonies, refining AI-driven features, deployments, and production support.
- Share your expertise and drive GenAI adoption across your product cluster and the broader AH Technology Platform.
- Enable the team to deliver value faster by evolving development processes, upskilling in AI, and embedding a continuous learning mindset.
As Senior AI Engineer, you are technically responsible for the work of your team. Your team develops and supports multiple applications delivering one or more capabilities for our brands in the Netherlands.
You will work closely with our Product Owner and Engineering Manager to further develop our technology landscape.
Your new team and office.
Together with your team, you will work on inspiring projects that accelerate our transition into a hybrid Food & Tech company.
We want to leverage data and technology to future-proof food shopping and make healthy food more accessible to everyone. At Albert Heijn, you team up with inspiring peers in the data, digital, and technology domains—a community of diverse individuals who share a common goal: creating digital solutions that make (online) shopping simpler and more inspiring.
Are you ready to reinvent the way millions of people buy and enjoy their food?
We invest heavily in data, digital, and technology—and that includes investing in your career. Our teams work in a hybrid way, both from home and from our office, located right next to Zaandam train station.
We believe it's important to be part of a high-belonging team: a team where you can be yourself and feel safe, accepted, and appreciated.
For this role, we are preferably looking for someone who brings diversity to our team in the broadest possible sense. Someone who adds new perspectives and ideas to the table.
So don't check every box? Don't worry, we probably don't either 😉. Don't hesitate to apply if you think you're up for the challenge—we'd love to see your resume.
