A well‑established private equity firm with a growing presence in Amsterdam is seeking an experienced Finance Directorto lead its local finance function. This senior role combines hands‑on technical leadership with strategic oversight and people management, supporting the firm’s investment activities and continued expansion in Europe.
The Finance Director will be a key senior member of the organization, responsible for ensuring robust financial governance, high‑quality reporting, and effective coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the finance function, managing and developing a small, high‑performing team.
- Take overall responsibility for financial reporting, including management accounts, statutory financial statements, and consolidated reporting where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards (Dutch GAAP, IFRS where applicable) and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Act as a key partner to senior management on financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Manage cash management, capital planning, and liquidity oversight at both management company and fund level.
- Lead the audit and year‑end processes, coordinating with external auditors and ensuring timely completion.
- Support transaction activity, including acquisitions, exits, fund launches, and restructurings, from a finance and governance perspective.
- Continuously enhance internal controls, systems, and processes in line with best practice and firm growth.
Candidate Profile
- Approximately 15 years of relevant professional experience within finance, accounting, or fund operations, ideally within private equity, alternatives, or asset management.
- Strong technical accounting background, with prior experience in senior finance leadership roles.
- Proven experience leading and mentoring small teams in a dynamic, professional environment.
- Solid understanding of private equity fund structures, management companies, and service provider models.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; professional qualification (RA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Strategic yet hands‑on mindset, comfortable operating at both detail and leadership levels.
- High level of integrity, judgment, and ownership.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable in a growth‑oriented, entrepreneurial setting.
- Fluency in English and Dutch ideally.
