Urban Gym Group (UGG) is a leading fitness and wellness company with over 60 clubs and studios across the Netherlands and the UK, including TrainMore, ClubSportive, Gymbox and THE CLB. As we enter a new phase of international expansion and professionalisation, we continue to drive growth through both organic development and strategic acquisitions.
As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in keeping UGG fully in control of its financial performance. You will work closely with the broader finance team and business stakeholders, combining strong financial control with a commercial and analytical mindset. The role has a clear focus on balance sheet control, P&L, budgeting, forecasting and FP&A in a fast-growing consumer-driven environment.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to internal stakeholders, the board and shareholders
- Take ownership of the monthly closing process with a strong focus on balance sheet, P&L and delta with budget.
- Maintain, review and document all P&L and balance sheet specifications on a monthly basis
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and FP&A processes, translating numbers into business insights
- Work closely with other financial controllers to ensure full control over revenue and costs across the group
- Critically review, improve and automate financial processes and systems
- Proactive end-to-end process optimisation
- Coordinate and support external audits and liaise with auditors, tax advisors and regulatory authorities
Your profile
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 6–8 years of experience as Financial Controller (or similar), within a consumer-focused business
- Solid experience with budgeting, forecasting and/or FP&A
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
- Commercial and critical mindset with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a multi-entity, fast-growing organisation; experience in scale-up or buy-and-build environments is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of (Dutch) accounting standards
- Experience with finance systems and process optimisation
- Hands-on, proactive and analytical, with a strong sense of ownership
- Experience with Lucanet experience is a nice-to-have
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus
- Eligible to work in the Netherlands
