About the role:
This is a hands-on Financial Controller role sitting within the Group finance team and reporting to the Head of Finance. You will be responsible for driving the financial close process across multiple jurisdictions, working directly with in-country accountants to ensure consolidated reporting is accurate and delivered on time. The role suits a qualified accountant with a solid technical foundation who takes pride in getting the numbers right and building reliable processes around them.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Close Management
• Own and manage the end-to-end month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process across all entities.
• Coordinate and align close timelines with in-country accountants across multiple jurisdictions.
• Ensure all entities submit trial balances, reconciliations, and close packs on schedule.
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and period-end adjustments.
• Maintain and enforce a group close calendar with clear deliverables and deadlines.
• Identify and resolve close bottlenecks, driving continuous improvement in the close cycle.
• Critically review key accounts
Group Consolidation
• Prepare the full group consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Process and eliminate all intercompany transactions and balances.
• Maintain robust intercompany reconciliation processes, resolving mismatches promptly.
• Manage the consolidation of entities across multiple currencies, applying IAS 21 translation principles.
• Maintain the group consolidation model and ensure all entities adhere to the group chart of accounts.
• Prepare consolidated notes and disclosures required for statutory and group reporting.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly group management accounts and reporting packs.
• Ensure the submission of all regulatory filings timeously.
• Maintain compliance with applicable IFRS standards.
• Liaise with in-country finance teams to ensure local statutory accounts are filed accurately and on time.
• Develop and document finance policies, close procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Accounting Oversight & Technical Guidance
• Serve as the technical accounting authority across the group, resolving complex accounting queries.
• Review the work of in-country accountants, providing guidance on IFRS application and group policies.
• Maintain and update the group accounting policies manual and ensure consistent application across entities.
• Assess the impact of new or revised IFRS standards and lead group-wide implementation.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of the general ledger across all group entities.
Qualifications
• CA(SA) or ACA or ACCA or equivalent chartered accountancy qualification (e.g., CPA Ireland, ICAI, IDW, OEC, RA).
• 3 – 5 years of post-qualification experience in a technical accounting or financial control role.
• Group consolidation and multi-entity financial close processes.
• Hands-on experience managing close cycles across multiple jurisdictions or countries.
• Proven track record of applying IFRS in a group reporting environment.
• Experience managing or coordinating in-country or decentralised finance teams
