As a Business Controller you will be part of the Business Controlling team and play a key role in the planning, execution and evaluation of financial performance. You are closely involved in the monthly closing process and take responsibility for portfolio and new business development across the organization.
A core element of the role is to translate complex financial and business data into actionable, management‑ready insights. You create end‑to‑end transparency across all relevant KPIs, value drivers and performance indicators and actively support data‑driven decision making by providing forward‑looking analyses, scenarios and clear points of attention for management.
As Mercedes‑Benz Financial Services continues its transformation into a data‑driven organization, this position plays an active role in embedding Business Intelligence, advanced analytics and AI‑supported use cases into Finance and Business Controlling. You drive the development of scalable, automated and insight‑oriented reporting solutions, working closely with internal Data Warehouse, BI and Visualization (Power BI) teams, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of analytical capabilities across the company.
Depending on business needs, supporting cross‑functional initiatives and projects can be part of the role.
Your responsibilities
In this role, your key responsibility is to support and challenge stakeholders by combining strong financial expertise with advanced analytical and BI capabilities. You maintain an independent, critical view on processes and numbers and act as a sparring partner for management.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Performing monthly closings, including detailed analysis of acquisitions, portfolio and margins, supported by structured data models
- Monitoring financial and business KPIs, identifying trends, drivers and root causes, and analyzing performance versus reference values (e.g. Plan, Previous Year)
- Actively participating in committees and following up on open action items with fact‑based analyses
- Ensuring timely, consistent and high‑quality data delivery for management, business and HQ stakeholders
- Supporting planning, forecasting and scenario analysis, including sensitivity analyses and simulations
- Designing, developing and delivering management reports and analytical dashboards with a strong focus on decision relevance and business impact
- Performing ad‑hoc analyses and what‑if scenarios, leveraging our Data Warehouse and analytical tools
- Driving the development, standardization and automation of BI solutions using Power BI, including data models, measures and visual concepts
- Contributing to the adoption of advanced analytics and AI‑supported use cases (e.g. driver‑based forecasting, anomaly detection, portfolio and margin analytics) in close collaboration with central BI and Data teams
- Acting as a business partner for various departments by translating data into insights on risks, opportunities and value drivers
- Supporting pricing activities (interest rates, commissions, fees), monitoring profitability and contributing analytical input to pricing development
- Acting as policy owner for relevant topics, ensuring compliance with local and global policies and regulations
- Maintaining a robust audit trail for price concessions and commercial actions and proposing remedial actions in case of non‑compliance
About you
You are an analytical, data‑driven finance professional with strong commercial awareness and a clear focus on Business Intelligence and decision support. You combine financial expertise with a structured, technology‑oriented mindset and feel comfortable translating complex data into clear messages for management.
You bring:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics or a comparable field or relevant experience in Finance / Financial Services
- Solid understanding of financial mathematics, performance measurement and value drivers
- Excellent verbal and written English skills (Dutch is a strong plus)
- The ability to communicate complex analytical topics clearly to non‑technical stakeholders up to management / board level
- The capability to work independently, manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
- A reliable and quality‑ driven attitude
- Hands‑on experience with Data Warehouses, BI solutions and data visualization, preferably Power BI
- Strong interest in advanced analytics and AI‑based approaches and the curiosity to explore new tools and use cases
- A pronounced data mindset, focused on transparency, consistency and decision relevance
- Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
