ONSITE ROLE- 830am - 5pm, but flexible
The FedScreen Screener coordinates the pre-employment screening process for new hires, new contractors and FRS transfers. This position coordinates the rescreening process for existing FRS employees and contractors. Screenings include FBI fingerprint criminal background checks, drug testing, employment and education verification of candidates, motor vehicle review, enhanced screenings and more. This position will collect, review, perform verification follow-up and summarize all required screening reports and documentation. FedScreen Screeners will communicate with individuals, vendors, hiring managers, Bank leadership and FedScreen leadership in a timely and professional manner. This position reports to the FedScreen Manager.
Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities:
- Using the FedScreen system, receive online screening requests from Client Banks throughout the FRS and verify request matches position requirements in Workday.
- Communicate with new hire employees, contingent workers and current employees to initiate, schedule and follow-up on background screenings. Screenings include any combination of drug screening, FBI fingerprinting, motor vehicle reviews, employment and education verification, criminal checks, and if applicable, investigative enhanced screenings.
- Clearly guide the individual through the screening process; communicate the reason for the screening, the overall process / timelines and what is expected of the individual.
- Initiate screening requests with the individual and applicable vendors.
- Follow-up with individual as necessary to keep timeline on track. Escalate to FRB district if necessary.
- Follow-up with vendors to keep timeline on track. Escalate to FedScreen Coordinator if necessary.
- Review screening results in a timely manner; follow-up with individuals on any non-verified screening component via email or telephone.
- Maintain detailed records (emails) of communications with individuals.
- Record screening data on Summary Report. Save all screening reports and documentation in dedicated database.
- Complete Summary Report and Treasury Suitability Worksheet, if applicable.
- Notify district Adjudicator that screening results are ready for review.
- Upon successful adjudication, coordinate with new hire and hiring manager to confirm the start/transfer date. For current employees, notify them and their supervisor of the successful completion of their rescreen.
- For new hires, update new hire start date and complete the hiring process in Workday.
- For all individuals, update the employee screening record in Workday with the screening results and dates.Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree is preferred; combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in the Human Resources department is strongly preferred.Knowledge and Skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills to work with new hires, current FRS employees, Bank management, vendors, FedScreen leadership and co-workers.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management and staff required.
- Experience working with and handling SPII in a highly confidential manner.
- General knowledge and understanding of employment laws and best practices.
- Experience conducting personnel screenings is highly desired.
- Experience with policy / process review and improvement preferred.
- Experience handling large volumes of workload in a professional manner.
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Effective listening skills required.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail required.
- Strong PC skills with working knowledge of Applicant Tracking and HRIS Systems, Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Workday is strongly preferred.
