The IT System Engineer ensures the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure.
The role focuses on designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving on‑premises and cloud-based systems to support business operations, security, and compliance requirements.
In addition, the IT System Engineer is responsible for providing first-line technical support to users, ensuring timely resolution of IT-related issues and requests (Office IT, Lab IT, eQMS, related issues), and acting as the first point of contact between end users and the IT department
You will work from our Rotterdam office (hybrid work model) and report to the IT Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for IT-related questions, incidents, and service requests.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve common hardware, software, and connectivity issues; escalate complex problems as needed.
- Assist with employee onboarding/offboarding and the setup, configuration, and replacement of end-user devices.
- Log, track, and manage support tickets while adhering to IT procedures, SLAs, and escalation protocols.
- Document solutions, guides, and FAQs to improve efficiency and self-service.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, data protection guidelines, and regulatory requirements; report potential security incidents.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to IT services.
- Maintain a professional and positive IT service experience, communicating outages and issues promptly to management.
You have
- a professional education in computer science, cybersecurity, HBO, MBO 4 or equivalent area and a relevant work experience >2 years in a similar role
- a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
- a solid understanding of general IT techniques; Windows, Linux, SQL, communication protocols.
- experience with one or more of the relevant IT and Medical Device standards are pre (e.g. ISO27001, ISO13485, IEC62304, GAMP5)
- experience with VMware, and LIMS are a pre
- understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls)
- knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
- a basic understanding of IT security principles, compliance, and risk management
- proficient communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- good organizational and communication skills.
