The Opportunity
Jonathan Rose Companies is seeking a collaborative, pragmatic, and mission-driven Director, Talent & Culture to serve as its primary HR leader and day-to-day people partner across the organization. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role for an HR leader who enjoys being close to the business, supporting managers and employees directly, leading a small HR team, and strengthening the systems, practices, and culture that enable people to do their best work.
Reporting to the COO, the Director will oversee the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, HR policies, employee engagement, leadership coaching, and HR operations. The ideal candidate will bring sound judgment, emotional intelligence, strong execution, and the ability to balance strategic partnership with practical, responsive support.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, strategic, and emotionally intelligent leader who combines strong business acumen with a deep commitment to people, culture, and mission-driven work.
- Direct experience supporting organizations within the real estate investment, real estate development, property management, or related real estate sectors
- Significant progressive human resources and talent leadership experience, ideally within mission-driven, complex, entrepreneurial, or community-oriented organizations strongly preferred
- Experience leading a small, high-performing, hands-on Human Resources team, with the ability to provide clear direction, coach and develop junior HR staff, set priorities, maintain accountability, and personally engage in the day-to-day work when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, trusting relationships across all levels of an organization, serving as a credible, approachable, and solutions-oriented partner to senior leaders, managers, employees, and HR team members
- Strong comfort with HR data, analytics, reporting, and Excel, with the ability to use workforce metrics, trends, and practical analysis to inform decisions, identify issues, support planning, and improve HR service delivery.
- Strong expertise across organizational development, talent management, leadership development, employee engagement, compensation, and HR operations
- Comfortable leading a geographically dispersed team of direct reports
- Ability to physically work in the NYC office regularly (at least 2 days a week) as well as willingness to travel and work longer hours to support the business needs
A competitive compensation package includes base salary range $200K - $220K + bonus eligible + benefits.
