POSITION OVERVIEW
Payentry is seeking a strategic, hands-on Human Resources Leader to build and lead the company’s people function during an important phase of growth and organizational evolution. Backed by Tenex Capital Management, Payentry is focused on scaling operations, strengthening organizational capabilities, and continuing to build a high-performance, employee-centric culture.
This leader will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, driving talent strategy, organizational effectiveness, leadership development, performance management, and HR operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings experience operating in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments and has successfully partnered with executive leadership and private equity sponsors to support transformation and scale.
This role will also play a critical leadership role in acquisition integration efforts, including organizational harmonization, workforce alignment, and the integration of HR infrastructure and employee programs across acquired businesses.
The role requires both strategic vision and operational execution, with responsibility for developing scalable processes while maintaining a strong cultural foundation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute the company’s people and organizational strategy.
- Align HR initiatives with business objectives, growth priorities, and operational goals.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership effectiveness.
- Help foster a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build scalable HR infrastructure and organizational processes to support rapid growth and acquisition activity.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead recruiting strategy and execution across all functions and levels.
- Develop scalable hiring processes and employer branding initiatives to attract top talent.
- Partner with business leaders to assess workforce needs and organizational capabilities.
- Improve onboarding and integration processes to accelerate employee productivity and engagement.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Champion company culture and employee experience initiatives.
- Design and implement engagement, recognition, and retention programs.
- Support leadership communication and change management efforts during periods of growth and transformation.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations and team development.
Performance Management & Leadership Development
- Build and manage performance management frameworks that drive accountability and development.
- Develop leadership training, coaching, and succession planning initiatives.
- Create programs focused on employee growth, career development, and organizational capability building.
- Establish metrics and reporting to measure talent effectiveness and organizational health.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
- Oversee compensation philosophy, incentive programs, and benefits administration.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures, and programs are scalable and compliant with applicable regulations.
- Lead HR systems optimization and data-driven reporting capabilities.
- Partner with finance and executive leadership on headcount planning and compensation budgeting.
- Evaluate and standardize compensation bands, titles, payroll practices, and employee benefit structures across the organization.
M&A Integration & Organizational Harmonization
- Lead the people-related integration activities for acquisitions and add-on investments.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute integration strategies that support growth and operational alignment objectives.
- Drive harmonization of payroll, benefits, compensation structures, job titles, organizational design, HR policies, and employee programs across acquired businesses.
- Assess organizational structures and workforce capabilities to support successful integration and scalability.
- Develop and implement integration playbooks, timelines, communication plans, and change management initiatives.
- Ensure smooth employee onboarding and transition processes for acquired teams while maintaining business continuity and cultural alignment.
- Partner with finance, operations, legal, and functional leaders to align workforce planning, reporting structures, and HR systems during integration efforts.
- Identify organizational risks, retention concerns, and cultural challenges associated with acquisitions and develop mitigation strategies.
- Establish scalable frameworks and governance processes to support future acquisition integration activity.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain and improve HR governance, documentation, and policy frameworks.
- Manage employee relations with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or HR certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including experience leading HR in high-growth or private equity-backed organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in dynamic environments.
- Strong business acumen and ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience building scalable HR infrastructure, systems, and processes.
- Proven success integrating HR systems, compensation structures, benefits programs, payroll operations, and organizational frameworks across multiple entities.
- Experience leading or supporting post-acquisition integration efforts within a private equity-backed environment strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven success in talent acquisition, organizational development, and culture building.
- Deep understanding of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices.
- Experience within business services, technology-enabled services, SaaS, payroll, HR tech, or related industries is preferred.
