Director Finance – Join Novades

About Novades
At Novades a 100m USD company, we are a trusted partner to the food industry, specializing in upgrading raw materials that no longer meet standards for human consumption. Since our start 10 years ago we thoroughly believe strongly in the power of the circular economy giving these materials a second life. Where others see deviations and risks, we see opportunity.
From our office in the city centre of Utrecht, our team of 20 professionals manages trading, operations, and product testing in our in-house laboratory. We collaborate with external partners for production, transport, and additional lab research.
Your Role
As Director Finance, you will be part of the day-to-day management team and act as the financial conscience of the company and a key strategic partner to leadership. Together with your team consisting of an AP and AR function your responsibilities include:
1. Financial Steering & Management Information
- Provide clear insights into financial performance (margins by product/SKU, service, client, and entity)
- Build a robust reporting structure and rolling forecast
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable financial KPIs
2. Working Capital & Financing
- Actively manage cash flow, receivables, payables, and liquidity
- Safeguard the financial feasibility of growth plans
- Maintain relationships with banks and advise on capital structure and financing options
3. International Growth
- Set up financial structures for international entities
- Implement transfer pricing policies and manage currency risks
- Ensure international compliance and support expansion and partnerships
4. Shareholder Value
- Provide solicited and unsolicited advice on cash, profitability, and risk
- Act as a sparring partner to the CEO and report directly to leadership
5. Statutory annual financial statements
- The preparation of the statutory annual financial statements, including the balance sheet, profit and loss account, and notes.
- Supervising the external auditor, acting as the primary point of contact, and ensuring the timely provision of all required documentation.
- Ensuring that the financial statements are presented to the shareholders/Supervisory Board in a timely manner and filed with the Chamber of Commerce.
- Ensuring that the figures present a “true and fair view” of the financial position, in accordance with relevant reporting standards (such as RJ or IFRS)
Candidate Profile
Education & Background
- Master degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, or similar
- Preferably complemented by RC, RA, CFA, or MBA
- 8–12 years of relevant work experience
- Proven experience in an international, high-growth environment

- Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex financial topics
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and high integrity
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in financial reporting, consolidation, and management accounting
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., MS Dynamics) and financial modelling tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar)
- Knowledge of IFRS and/or Dutch GAAP; international tax knowledge is a plus
