Position: HR Generalist
Reports To: Director of Human Resources
Location: Copiague NY
Terms: Full-Time
Salary: 80,000 - 90,000 annually
Position Summary
The HR Generalist provides HR support for the U.S. facility and serves as a key partner to site leadership. This role delivers guidance on employee relations and compliance while ensuring alignment with broader North American HR practices. The position works independently, supports cross‑border initiatives, and contributes to HR process improvements across Canadian and U.S. operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide HR Support
- Provide front-line HR support to employees, supervisors, and managers in the U.S. facility.
- Lead employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Advise managers on performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment for U.S. roles, including sourcing, interviewing, and selection.
- Lead onboarding and orientation programs that ensure consistency with North American processes.
- Support workforce planning and talent pipeline development for critical roles.
HR Operations & Payroll Coordination
- Coordinate time & attendance, review hours, and provide accurate payroll inputs. Act as a backup for US payroll process as required.
- Maintain HRIS data integrity and support reporting for U.S. workforce metrics.
- Recommend process improvements to streamline HR operations across both countries.
- Oversee immigration file including liaising with external partners and administering employee immigration files.
Compliance & Policy Governance
- Ensure compliance with all U.S. federal and state employment laws.
- Maintain employee documentation and records.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
North American Collaboration
- Collaborate on cross border projects, including policy alignment, process standardization, and HR system enhancements.
- Support North American engagement initiatives, training programs, and cultural alignment efforts.
Engagement, Culture & Development
- Lead employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and communication activities for the U.S. site.
- Deliver or coordinate training sessions (supervisory skills, DEI, compliance, safety, etc.).
- Serve as a cultural ambassador and trusted advisor for employees.
Qualifications
Experience & Education
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with strong generalist exposure.
- Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; SHRM certification preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment legislation, and state-specific requirements.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, payroll inputs, and time/attendance systems.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
