Information Security Analyst - Cybersecurity
Pay: 41-45/hour W2
Locations: Uptown Charlotte, NC
Contract Duration: 12-month contract with strong potential to convert to FTE
This Information Security Analyst (Level 2) role supports the Information Protection domain through execution of governance and risk activities. This is a steady-state governance position, not a project delivery role, focused on supporting data protection efforts, enterprise metrics, and policy adherence within a large, highly regulated environment.
The role is ideal for someone with foundational governance, risk, or cybersecurity experience who can execute defined tasks, support governance processes, and contribute to high-quality, audit-ready deliverables. While not heavily technical, a working understanding of technical concepts will help in validating controls and supporting governance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support governance activities related to enterprise data protection requirements, including data at rest and data in flight
- Execute recurring enterprise metric cycles, including data collection, validation, and basic analysis
- Assist in identifying risk and control gaps and support remediation tracking and coordination
- Interpret and apply information security policies and standards within defined processes
- Contribute to the creation of audit-defensible documentation and reporting artifacts
- Support enterprise risk management, reporting, and audit readiness activities
- Track, manage, and update governance work through JIRA and Kanban workflows
- Participate in governance forums and support documentation of outcomes and action items
- Maintain strong attention to detail in all deliverables and follow-through activities
Required Qualifications
- Experience in Governance, Risk, and Controls (GRC), cybersecurity, information security, IT risk, or related field
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to follow defined processes and execute tasks independently with some guidance
- Experience working in large, complex, or regulated enterprise environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Required Tools & Skills
- Experience with JIRA and/or Kanban-based work tracking (highly desired)
- Microsoft Excel (data tracking, basic analysis)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (supporting reporting and presentations)
- Ability to clearly document and communicate governance activities and outcomes
