About the role
The Financial Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Amsterdam, responsible for overseeing the financial health of The Fun Group and its portfolio companies.
This role manages the preparation, review, and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and local regulations. Daily tasks include monitoring cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, as well as providing clear financial insights to support strategic decision-making by senior leadership. The Financial Controller will oversee accounting operations, optimize financial processes, and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
The role also involves collaborating with operational teams, supporting investment and pricing decisions, and contributing to long-term financial planning for the group’s international growth.
Your Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight: Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations across our various international entities.
- Reporting & Analysis: Take the leading role in preparing timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including financial statements, consolidation, variance and trend analysis.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & KPIs: Establish, monitor, and manage company budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and key financial KPIs.
- Control, Compliance & Audit: Build, implement, and optimize internal controls and robust compliance processes, including audit preparation and coordination.
- Business Partnership: Partner effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders, translating financial data into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Ownership & Team Guidance: Take ownership of the finance function’s core controlling activities and manage and guide the Finance Intern.
Our Requirements
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in financial controlling, accounting, or a similar finance role within a fast-paced, service-oriented business.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including consolidation, compliance, and audit coordination.
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, perform variance and trend analysis, and present actionable recommendations.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, and financial KPIs.
- Comfort with modern ERP/accounting systems and strong Excel skills; experience implementing or optimizing financial systems is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders; fluency in English is required.
- Experience in a Big Four environment is an advantage.
- Valid authorization to work in the Netherlands without employer sponsorship.
