About fairCT B.V.fairCT B.V. is the designated Consolidated Tape Provider (CTP) for bonds in the European Union, authorized and regulated by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). We are building critical capital markets infrastructure to drive transparency across the European fixed-income ecosystem.
The RoleWe are hiring a highly capable Finance Director to build, scale, and manage our internal financial operations from the ground up. While holding a Director title, this is fundamentally a hands-on, individual contributor role in a lean, fast-paced startup.
You will be entirely responsible for the financial health of the company, managing everything from internal financial controls and corporate secretarial duties to the oversight of the firm's assets (including a multi-platform corporate treasury portfolio) and instructing payments.
Crucially, you will serve as the primary internal point of contact and manager for our outsourced service provider, who handles day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable (AP) support, and periodic tax reporting.
Note: To ensure your application is reviewed by a human, please begin your application message or cover letter with the keyword [ESMA].
The Startup Mindset (Attitude & Outlook)fairCT operates in a heavily regulated, high-stakes environment. You must possess exceptional flexibility and a proactive, self-starter approach. We expect our team to step in and step up to solve critical issues, even if they fall outside your formal remit. You must bring a "no job too big, no job too small" work ethic—equally comfortable presenting financial updates to the Board of Directors as you are reviewing general ledger outputs or managing outsourced vendor deliverables.
Key Responsibilities- Outsourced Operations Management: Oversee and coordinate closely with our external outsourced service provider to ensure accurate and timely delivery of day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, payroll processing, accounts payable (AP) support, and periodic tax reporting workflows.
- Treasury & Cash Control: Oversee the firm’s assets, manage diversified short-term cash portfolio structures, and hold responsibility for instructing corporate payments (subject to secondary officer authorization).
- Corporate Secretarial & Governance: Assist with the corporate secretarial function to ensure seamless governance operations. This includes ensuring all necessary information is properly and securely shared with board members and shareholders, corporate meetings are accurately minuted, and formal resolutions and decisions are correctly recorded.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and clear, structured financial health reports for the Board of Directors, utilizing data feeds validated by our outsourced partners.
- Tax & Compliance: Provide internal oversight for all corporate tax obligations, ensuring the accuracy of VAT filings and periodic tax reporting executed by our outsourced provider, and managing international tax documentation (e.g., FATCA / W-8BEN-E forms) in tandem with local advisors.
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal financial controls and review mechanisms to audit the outputs of the outsourced accounting and tax functions.
What We Are Looking For- Certification: A recognized, active accounting qualification (e.g., RA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Experience: Proven experience in a standalone finance role or a lead finance capacity within a lean corporate or startup ecosystem. Experience managing or working closely with outsourced financial partners, accounting firms, or tax compliance providers is highly desirable.
- Governance Aptitude: Strong administrative diligence with practical experience or comfort assisting with company secretarial duties, board material curation, and legal record-keeping.
- Regulatory Context: Solid knowledge of Dutch GAAP and/or IFRS, and practical experience managing corporate tax obligations and financial audits within the Netherlands.
- Domain Knowledge: General knowledge of capital markets, market infrastructure, or fixed-income trading is considered a strong plus.
- Tech-Forward Workflow: Practical experience utilizing or implementing modern automation and AI applications in finance (e.g., AI-assisted reconciliation or automated invoice processing tools) to optimize workflows between fairCT and external service providers.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required. Working proficiency in Dutch is highly advantageous for interfacing with local regulatory and tax authorities (Belastingdienst).
What We Offer- A competitive salary package aligned with experience.
- Central Office Location: Based out of our central Amsterdam corporate offices.
- 25 days of annual leave.
- A comprehensive travel allowance / NS Business Card for commuting.
- The unique opportunity to shape the financial and operational foundation of an enterprise-grade, ESMA-regulated market infrastructure provider.
