Job: IT Manager
Location: Netherlands or Switzerland (Based in Europe, with flexibility to travel across regional offices if required)
🏢 Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to oversee the technology infrastructure and office operations of a commodity trading office of a large conglomerate in Europe. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure seamless IT support, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency for traders and support staff. Understanding of Trading systems is a must.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- IT Infrastructure Management
- Oversee servers, networks, and cloud systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- High-Frequency Availability
Manage servers, low-latency networks, and cloud environments with a "zero-failure" mindset, ensuring 99.99% uptime for trading desks during global market hours.
- Office Technology Operations
- Ability to manage desktops, trading terminals, communication systems, and office hardware/software. Oversee the deployment and entitlement of market data feeds (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE, Trayport). Optimize network paths to key European exchanges to ensure price execution speed.
Design and regularly stress-test Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BCDR) plans specifically tailored for trading continuity
Oversight of physical access to the server room and adherence to "Clean Desk" policies to prevent information leakage.
- Specialized Trading Hardware
Manage the lifecycle of high-performance trading workstations, multi-display arrays, and specialized communication systems (Trading Turrets/Voice Logs).
- Cybersecurity Oversight
- Follow the security protocols set by the larger organization to protect sensitive trading data.
- Vendor & Service Coordination
- Liaise with IT vendors, team members in other locations, telecom providers, and software suppliers.
- User Support, Training & Requirements Management
- Provide hands-on support for traders and gather/manage traders’ technology and workflow requirements to improve systems and processes. Experience in Automation tools will be a plus.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure IT systems comply with European financial regulations and data protection laws (GDPR).
- Project Leadership
- Lead IT projects such as system upgrades, office relocations, or new trading platform integrations. Also willing to travel to other Europe locations and other locations where Traders do their operations

- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of trading platforms, market data feeds, and financial applications, with prior experience managing traders’ requirements in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Expertise in network administration, cloud services, and cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with European regulations including GDPR and MiFID II.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to support a fast-paced trading environment.
