Our client is a high-growth, privately held healthcare services company.
The Head of HR will report directly to Chief Operating Officer (COO) and take on the strategic leadership role in the overall human resources management of the organization.
He/ she will lead an existing human resources team that includes 3 Recruiters and an HR Administrator.
The company is 100% on-site Monday-Friday in Thousand Oaks. This is not negotiable.
The Opportunity
The Head, HR will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and be responsible for ensuring the company’s workforce is strategically aligned to support the overall business plan, goals, and targets. He/ She will work to advance a culture of high-performance, team engagement, and service excellence.
The Head, HR holds primary responsibility for fostering team member relations and engagement, overseeing compensation and benefits, managing performance evaluations, shaping HR policies and procedures, and facilitating training and development initiatives with other departments.
The Head, HR will be capable of leveraging existing organizational and cultural strengths while mobilizing change and growth throughout the platform. Collaborating closely with executive leadership, the Head, HR will contribute to the development of company-wide processes and policies aimed at enhancing integration and unity within the organization.
Specific responsibilities
Human Resource Operations:
- Pioneer innovative HR strategies to enhance processes, drive employee engagement, and align people initiatives with organizational goals.
- Oversee the HR department, including 401(k), benefits administration, leave and accommodations administration, and workers’ compensation programs, ensuring competitive offerings, regulatory compliance, and efficient claims management.
- Build and work with other departments to ensure a best-in-class human resources structure and process in the areas of talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, employee engagement and performance management; ensure that HR operations and processes are consistent and integrated across the Company.
- Monitor key metrics in areas of employee engagement, open positions, employee turnover, and develop tools to monitor the success of programs.
- Position the Company as an employer of choice and assess the Company’s current compensation and benefit plans; provide recommendations on how to remain competitive in the marketplace.
- Work with leadership and functional teams to create innovative, flexible workforce strategies.
- Review current human resources technology platforms and provide recommendations for the implementation of new tools that will improve compliance, efficiency, and reporting.
- Ensure the Company’s full compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as federal, state and local laws and regulations governing employment.
Human Resource Strategy:
- Create a human resources strategy that aligns with the Company’s overall growth strategy. The strategy will address workforce development, talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, engagement, employee benefits and performance management.
- Develop programs and initiatives around employee retention that are effective and resonate with staff across the enterprise.
- Develop and implement strategies to manage labor productivity and associated costs.
- Coordinate all employee communications and employee recruitment strategies in coordination with the Company’s Talent Acquisition and Executive Leadership Team.
- Build KPIs and dashboards that measure staffing and monitor key strategic workforce objectives.
Leadership:
- Serve as the key advisor to the Company’s Executive Leadership Team on all human capital and workforce initiatives.
- Direct all the Company’s human resources operations and activities, identifying key human resources priorities in the areas of employee retention, employee engagement, performance management, and succession planning goals.
- Mentor the current human resources team and foster professional development for staff.
- Develop strategies for succession planning, career development and mentoring programs.
- Lead recruitment and retention strategies that support efforts to build the future workforce.
- Participate in Board Meetings as needed and prepare Board materials at the request of the President and Chief Executive Officer.
- Implement standardized performance management tools, with the goal of creating high-performing teams.

Specific selection criteria include:
- Previous Human Resources experience as a HR leader within a fast-paced and growth-oriented organization; ideally multi-site. Experience in a PE-backed environment is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of industry trends, including emerging roles and in-demand skill sets.
- Solid understanding of recruitment and turnover metrics and analytics, with experience using data to drive decision-making.
- Expertise with compensation and benefits plans, salary banding strategies.
- A passion for building and transforming culture in a growth phase; proven experience leading complex workstreams and evolving people, processes, and systems.
- Experience designing and implementing HR systems and processes, including performance management and employee engagement tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate the inorganic growth strategy and roadmap to all levels of the company.
- Desire to work for a growing organization and lead by example; high energy, entrepreneurial, fast-moving, and self-motivated to support business development and growth.
- Ability to work collaboratively across an organization to build upon a results-driven, team-oriented culture. Background in deploying best in class practices and metrics for optimal performance.
- Undergraduate Degree is required; Advanced degree preferred.
