Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Administrative Assistant to Executive Special Counsel on behalf of the California Nurses Association/National Nurses United (CNA/NNU), the nation's largest union and professional association of registered nurses. This is a full-time onsite opportunity based in Oakland, California.
Position Overview
The Administrative Assistant to Executive Special Counsel provides high-level administrative, compliance, and project coordination support to the Executive Special Counsel department. This unique role offers exposure to labor relations, regulatory compliance, union governance, political action committee reporting, nonprofit administration, and legal support functions within one of the nation's most influential labor organizations.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and project support to the Executive Special Counsel and department staff
- Assist with Department of Labor compliance activities, legal reporting requirements, and regulatory filings
- Support administration of internal union officer elections and related governance activities
- Assist with Political Action Committee (PAC) reporting and compliance processes
- Coordinate preparation of state and federal lobbying reports and other regulatory submissions
- Support nonprofit reporting requirements and other departmental administrative functions
- Manage confidential information, maintain records, and track important deadlines and deliverables
- Assist with special projects, database management initiatives, and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three or more years of administrative, executive support, project coordination, or related experience
- Experience supporting senior leaders or executives
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting legal, compliance, labor relations, government, nonprofit, or advocacy organizations
- Experience with database systems, reporting tools, or software implementation projects
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting, governance processes, elections administration, or compliance activities
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate needs and provide proactive administrative support
Compensation And Benefits
