For a large financial organization in Amsterdam, we are looking for an experienced AI/ML Engineer. You will work in a Finance Risk environment on GenAI use cases and AI applications that contribute to innovation, automation and improved support for business processes.
This role is explicitly intended for a true IT specialist with strong engineering skills, not a data scientist profile
The organization requires additional capacity to deliver on the GenAI use case backlog. You will contribute across the full use case funnel: from early-stage business proposals to design, implementation and operational handover.
There are currently five use cases in the funnel for 2026. The aim is to complete these before the end of the year. You will advise stakeholders, assess feasibility and value, take the lead in design decisions and help build robust AI solutions.
Your responsibilities will include
- advising and supporting early-stage GenAI business proposals;
- designing and implementing AI and GenAI applications;
- developing solutions using Python, PySpark and Databricks;
- working with Azure AI Services and relevant GenAI frameworks such as LangChain;
- applying clean code, design principles and software engineering best practices;
- contributing to MLOps, maintainability and operational handovers;
- taking the lead in technical design decisions;
- collaborating with business stakeholders, IT teams and other relevant parties.
You bring
- at least 8 years of relevant work experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, AI Engineer or in a comparable IT engineering role
- demonstrable experience within a bank or the financial sector
- strong experience with Databricks;
- strong experience with Python;
- experience with PySpark;
- experience with Azure AI Services;
- experience with SQL;
- knowledge of SOLID principles;
- experience developing and operating AI applications;
- fundamental knowledge of AI and machine learning;
- strong coding fundamentals, including clean code, design and best practices;
- strong communication skills.
