Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Human Resources Specialist role located in the Greater Chicago Area. The Human Resources Specialist will support day-to-day HR operations, including maintaining employee records, administering HR policies, and assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding. This role will help manage employee benefits programs, respond to employee inquiries, and support performance and personnel management processes. The specialist will also assist in ensuring compliance with labor laws and company procedures, prepare HR-related reports, and collaborate with managers to address workplace issues in a fair and consistent manner. In addition, the role may support HR projects such as training coordination, engagement initiatives, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Human Resources (HR) principles and practices, with the ability to support day-to-day HR operations.
- Experience in HR Management and Personnel Management, including supporting hiring, onboarding, performance discussions, and employee relations.
- Knowledge of HR Policies and their application in a consistent, compliant, and transparent manner.
- Hands-on experience administering Employee Benefits, such as health plans, paid time off, and other company programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with team members at all levels in a respectful, inclusive manner.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Familiarity with HRIS or HR software and basic proficiency with MS Office or similar tools.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws applicable to the Greater Chicago Area is preferred.
- Previous HR experience in logistics, transportation, or a similar operational environment is a plus.
