Data Science Intern – Finance (Procurement Analytics)

Role Overview
We are looking for a Finance Data Science Intern to join our Data Science & AI team, working closely with Procurement and Finance stakeholders. This role focuses on building data-driven insights into procurement spend, cost structures, and supplier behavior across global operations.
You will work on real-world financial datasets, helping improve cost transparency, classification accuracy, and decision-making at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Expand Procurement Data Models
- Enhance existing datasets and dashboards beyond Europe
- Cost Classification (CAPEX vs OPEX)
- Develop data models to classify procurement spend at PO level, improving financial reporting accuracy.
- Granular Spend Analytics
- Design and implement a second-level category taxonomy to enable deeper analysis of invoice and PO line items.
- Price vs Volume Decomposition
- Build analytical models to separate price and volume effects at item level for key suppliers and spend categories.
- Supplier & Spend Insights
- Generate actionable insights on cost drivers, supplier trends, and procurement efficiency.
What You’ll Work With
- Large-scale procurement and invoice datasets
- SQL, Python (Pandas, PySpark)
- Data platforms (e.g., Databricks or similar)
- Real business problems with direct stakeholder exposure
Your Profile
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Econometrics, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills with experience in Python and SQL
- Comfortable working with structured financial or transactional data
- Interest in finance, procurement, or cost analytics
- Ability to translate messy real-world data into structured insights
