HR Business Partner – Sales-Focused Environment
Hybrid (3 days in office) | Up to $130k base | New York City
We’re looking for a commercially minded HR Business Partner to act as the face of HR for a fast-paced, sales-driven business operating in the staffing world.
This is a hands-on, people-first HR role supporting leadership and sales teams in a high-growth, high-energy environment. You’ll be deeply embedded in the business, partnering with leaders, shaping culture, and providing pragmatic HR support that enables performance, retention, and engagement.

The Role
As HR Business Partner, you’ll work closely with senior leaders and front‑office sales teams, providing day‑to‑day HR support while helping drive a high‑performance, inclusive culture.
This is a true generalist role with a strong commercial orientation, focused on employee relations, engagement, performance, stakeholder management, and people strategy execution.
Note: Payroll, internal recruitment and formal L&D are handled elsewhere, allowing this role to stay close to the business and its people.
Business Partnership & Commercial Support
- Act as a trusted HR advisor to sales leadership and management teams.
- Embed yourself in the sales organization, attending leadership and commercial meetings to stay close to the business.
- Support retention, performance, and workforce planning in a revenue-driven environment.
- Use people data and trends to inform decision-making and practical solutions.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Lead employee relations matters including performance management, disciplinaries, investigations, and conflict resolution.
- Coach managers on difficult conversations and people decisions.
- Interpret and apply HR policies with a pragmatic, commercial lens.
- Champion a high-performance, inclusive, and accountable culture.
Employee Engagement
- Own engagement initiatives, feedback loops, and culture programs.
- Act as a visible, approachable presence. The go-to for people-related issues.
- Support onboarding experiences that set new hires up for success in a sales environment.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with U.S. employment legislation (FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.).
- Maintain accurate HR records and systems with strong attention to confidentiality.
- Support immigration and work authorization processes where required.
Compensation Support
- Partner on compensation benchmarking, role design, and job descriptions.
- Support commercial decision-making around pay and promotion in a sales-led structure.
Must Have
- 5+ years in an HR Business Partner role.
- Staffing, recruitment, or sales-led industry experience (non-negotiable).
- Confidence operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law.
- Proven experience supporting senior stakeholders and front-line managers.
- High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and natural credibility.
- Comfortable being visible, vocal, and owning the HR agenda.
