Vice President of Cybersecurity
Pay Rate: $260-300K, alongside 35% bonus eligibility, unlimited PTO, and LTI's.

The Vice President, Cybersecurity serves as the head of Cybersecurity at this client and reports directly to the CIO. This leader will inherit and advance a well-defined, Board-approved three-year cybersecurity maturity roadmap focused on improving the organization's capabilities across the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0. Leading a team of roughly 30 cybersecurity professionals and an $11M budget, the VP will be responsible for driving enterprise cybersecurity strategy, governance, risk management, security operations, cloud security, incident response, and security architecture. This role will partner closely with executive leadership, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and business stakeholders to mature the organization's cybersecurity posture. A key focus will be improving cybersecurity maturity in governance and recovery, driving cross-functional accountability, overseeing annual external maturity assessments, optimizing cybersecurity investments within existing budget constraints, and ensuring the organization meets its cybersecurity maturity commitments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on executive who can continue executing an established roadmap, thoughtfully evolve future priorities, and serve as a trusted advisor on cybersecurity risk, resilience, and regulatory compliance within a complex healthcare environment.
This is a fully remote position, with a base salary of $260-300K, alongside 35% bonus eligibility, unlimited PTO, and LTI's.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive cybersecurity leadership experience, including experience leading enterprise security programs.
- Demonstrated success building, maturing, and executing enterprise cybersecurity programs and roadmaps.
- Deep understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and cybersecurity maturity models.
- Experience managing cybersecurity operations, cloud security, incident response, security architecture, GRC, and cyber risk programs.
- Strong cybersecurity governance experience, including policy development, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA Security and Privacy requirements.
- Experience operating within highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with healthcare cybersecurity risks, third-party ecosystems, and compliance frameworks.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Previous healthcare provider, healthcare services, payer, or healthcare technology experience.
- Experience leading cybersecurity programs aligned to NIST CSF 2.0 maturity improvement initiatives.
- Experience improving organizational maturity across governance and cyber recovery/resilience functions.
- Prior responsibility for annual cybersecurity maturity assessments and board-level reporting.
- Experience managing cybersecurity programs in organizations that rely heavily on third-party technology and vendor ecosystems.
- Experience modernizing security operations centers, MSSP transitions, vulnerability management, or security platform implementations.
- Knowledge of HITRUST, SOC 2, CIS Controls, PCI-DSS, GDPR, and CCPA.
- Experience in private equity-backed organizations or private companies.
- Background in financial services cybersecurity that can be applied to a healthcare environment.
- Current VP of Cybersecurity looking for greater scale, or a high-performing Senior Director ready to step into a VP-level leadership role.
