Finance Manager | DSL-01
Be part of one of Europe’s first large-scale SAF production facilities. You will contribute to the development of DSL-01 in Delfzijl, a pioneering plant focused on the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and renewable by-products.
You will join an experienced team where your expertise will directly contribute to the safe and successful delivery of this landmark project.
About the role
As Finance Manager, you play a key role in the development of DSL-01. You will be responsible for establishing the finance function for one of Europe’s first large-scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production facilities and supporting the transition from project phase to operations.
Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you will work closely with the Site Director, Plant Manager, and colleagues across the wider Finance organisation. Operating at the intersection of project, operations, and finance, you translate financial insights into practical business decisions.
During the project phase, you will provide financial oversight of costs, investments, and project risks. You support the project organisation with clear analyses and reporting, helping to guide key decisions throughout the construction of the facility.
At the same time, you will build the financial foundation for future operations. You will establish finance processes, support ERP implementation, and ensure that accounting, tax, and reporting requirements are in place from day one.
Your focus is clear: strong financial control, reliable insights, and a solid foundation for sustainable growth.
Project phase:
- Establishing and managing project cost control, including CAPEX tracking, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Monitoring project costs, commitments, and deviations against budget.
- Supporting project and management decision-making through financial scenario analyses and business cases.
- Preparing monthly project and group finance reports with clear financial insights.
- Coordinating financial matters with external auditors, advisors, and the wider Group Finance organisation.
- Supporting governance processes, including reporting to shareholders, lenders, and board-level stakeholders.
You provide financial transparency throughout the construction phase and enable the organisation to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Transition to operations:
- Establishing finance processes for the SAF production facility.
- Supporting ERP implementation and ensuring the correct setup of financial processes, controls, and reporting structures.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting, tax, and excise requirements.
- Building a reliable reporting framework for the operational phase.
- Acting as a finance business partner to the Site Director and Plant Manager.
- Collaborating with Group Finance to align local finance processes with group-wide policies, systems, and reporting requirements.
You lay the financial foundation for an entirely new production facility and ensure the organisation has the controls, processes, and management information required to operate successfully from day one.
Your profile
As a growing company in a rapidly evolving industry, we are looking for people who feel comfortable in an environment where not everything has been defined yet and who are eager to contribute to building and shaping the organisation.
You take ownership, think ahead, and thrive in a dynamic environment where change is constant.
You recognize yourself in the following:
- You live in the Delfzijl area or are willing to relocate there in the short term.
- You have 7–10 years of experience in finance, project controlling, or project finance within an industrial, energy, or other capital-intensive environment.
- You have experience supporting large capital investment projects (CAPEX) and understand how financial control contributes to successful project delivery.
- You have solid knowledge of accounting, cash flow management, and tax-related matters.
- Experience within excise, energy, chemicals, manufacturing, or other process industries is considered a strong advantage.
- You are comfortable operating in a greenfield environment where processes, systems, and ways of working are still being developed.
- You are a strong business partner who can effectively connect different stakeholder interests and support decision-making at multiple levels of the organisation.
- You possess strong analytical skills and are able to translate financial information into clear insights that support decision-making.
About DSL-01
DSL-01 is SkyNRG’s frontrunning renewable fuels facility in Delfzijl, Netherlands. The plant will produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from residual fats and greases using the HEFA (Hydrotreated Esters and Fatty Acids) pathway, with additional renewable products like butane, propane, and naphtha as by-products.
DSL-01 is the first facility in Europe dedicated entirely to SAF and its by-products. Once operational, it will produce 100,000 tonnes of SAF and 35,000 tonnes of sustainable by-products per year, cutting greenhouse gas emissions by around 80% compared to conventional jet fuel.
Construction started in 2026, with first fuel expected in 2028. The project includes the main facility, pipelines, and temporary work areas. At DSL-01, you will be part of a team building a state-of-the-art industrial plant from the ground up, contributing to a truly sustainable energy future.
