Finance & Operations Associate
We are supporting an early-stage, Rotterdam-based energy company in their search for an Operations & Finance Associate. The company works on projects across Europe and is backed by institutional investors, offering a unique opportunity to join a high-growth environment from the ground up.
This is a broad, hands-on role working closely with the CFO and CEO, with a strong focus on finance and exposure to international projects, investors, and complex financial structures.
The Role
This position is approximately 80% finance/accounting and 20% operational support, making it ideal for someone looking to build a strong foundation in finance within a dynamic, project-driven environment.
Key responsibilities
Finance & Accounting (primary focus)
- Support day-to-day accounting activities (AP/AR, payments, journal entries)
- Assist with treasury activities, including payment runs and cash tracking
- Support month-end close and reconciliation processes
- Work closely with external accountants across multiple countries
- Assist the CFO with financial reporting and data consolidation (IFRS exposure)
- Contribute to the implementation and optimisation of financial systems (e.g. Exact Online)
- Support financial processes linked to project development and investment activities
Operations & Executive Support (secondary focus)
- Provide ad hoc support to the CFO and CEO when needed
- Assist with coordination of meetings, travel, and administrative tasks
- Support light office management activities in a small team environment
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar
- 0–3 years of experience or a strong internship background in finance/accounting
- Basic accounting knowledge (journal entries, reconciliations, payments)
- Proactive, hands-on, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and sense of ownership
- Comfortable working in a small, entrepreneurial team
- Fluent in English

Practical details
