Tumas Group is currently seeking to recruit an IT Support Officer to join our dynamic team at the IT Department on a full-time basis. Reporting into the IT Manager, the selected candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the company’s IT infrastructure, providing first-line technical support to users, assisting with system administration tasks, and helping maintain secure and reliable systems.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide first-line support for hardware, software, and basic network issues (on-site and remote) and escalate complex incidents where necessary.
- Install, configure, and update workstations, peripherals, and standard applications according to company policies.
- Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and email/mailbox setups (onboarding and offboarding users).
- Assist in monitoring system and network performance, reporting issues and potential risks to senior IT staff.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as updates, patching, backups, and antivirus checks following documented procedures.
- Maintain IT asset inventory (laptops, desktops, mobile devices, licenses, peripherals) and ensure accurate records.
- Help prepare and maintain IT documentation, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles for users and internal use.
- Support remote access and VPN configurations for users, ensuring secure connectivity.
- Assist with small infrastructure projects (e.g., hardware refreshes, software rollouts, Wi‑Fi improvements) under guidance from senior staff.
- Adhere to IT security policies and procedures, promptly reporting security incidents or suspected breaches.
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- A diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or up to two years of relevant experience in IT support, helpdesk, or a comparable technical role.
- Basic knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft 365/Office applications.
- Familiarity with PC hardware components, printers, and common peripherals.
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, Wi‑Fi, VPN).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a logical, methodical approach.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical issues in simple terms to non-technical users.
- Customer-focused attitude and patience when dealing with users under pressure.
- Ability to follow procedures, document work clearly, and work with ticketing systems.
- Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and develop skills in systems, networking, and security.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, and basic user/group administration.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 admin portal, Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint administration.
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or similar) for automation tasks.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft fundamentals-level certifications.
