Purpose
As Head of Sales and Business Development, you will translate EWT Systems’ differentiated DirectWind technology and service capabilities into predictable, profitable growth by converting priority markets and known projects into contractually secured turbine and service revenues, while systematically developing new markets and partnerships that strengthen the company’s long‑term resilience and value.

Place of work/ working hours
You will be working from our main office in Amersfoort. This is a full-time role. International travel for 20 percent of your time can be anticipated.
Key activities/responsibilities
- Develop and execute the company’s commercial strategy, combining long-term market development with the achievement of annual revenue targets;
- Take full ownership of revenue and gross margin performance, including forecasting, pipeline development, order intake, and overall profitability;
- Identify and prioritize new business opportunities, customer segments, markets, and channels that contribute to sustainable growth;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and strategic partners, supporting long-term collaboration and business expansion;
- Lead complex B2B sales processes from initial engagement through contract negotiation and closing;
- Define and implement pricing strategies and commercial propositions in line with market positioning and margin objectives;
- Structure and professionalize sales processes, ensuring disciplined opportunity qualification and consistent contract review standards;
- Actively manage the sales pipeline to ensure consistent deal flow and predictable revenue performance;
- Lead, coach, and develop the commercial team, setting clear targets and monitoring performance against agreed KPI's;
- Ensure close alignment between sales, marketing, engineering and operations to deliver commercially viable and operationally feasible solutions;
- Translate customer feedback and market insights into input for product and service improvements;
- Oversee the preparation of proposals, quotations, and commercial agreements, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with company standards;
- Monitor market trends and competitor developments, adjusting commercial strategy where and when needed;
- Support investment decisions and business case development through commercial analysis and revenue modeling;
- Drive long-term customer retention through framework agreements and service-based revenue models;
- Report on commercial performance to executive management, providing clear insights into revenue outlook and growth opportunities;
- Continuously improve commercial processes, tools, and collaboration across departments to support scalable growth.
Requirements for the job:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Commercial Economics or a related field;
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in business development, sales leadership, or commercial management within a complex, multi-stakeholder commercial environment. Experience in the wind industry or with a provider of renewable energy technologies is a strong plus;
- Proven track record of full revenue accountability, including forecasting, margin management and delivery of sustainable revenue growth;
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing commercial teams in performance-driven environments;
- Strong strategic and financial acumen, combined with hands-on execution capability;
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills;
- High level of ownership, accountability and results orientation.
Preferred experience
- International commercial experience, including exposure to cross-border markets or global customer relationships;
- Experience in a technical, engineering-driven, or industrial manufacturing environment, preferably involving capital equipment or project-based solutions;
- Experience in renewable energy systems, particularly wind turbines, solar PV, or energy storage;
- Experience operating in long sales-cycle, multi-stakeholder environments;
- Experience contributing to strategic growth initiatives within a scaling or evolving organization.

Our wind turbines are predominantly used to provide localised on- and off-grid solutions for customers in multiple area's, including industry, agriculture, water utilities, investment funds, communities and landowners.
In Amersfoort we assemble rotor hubs, nacelles, power converters and control systems.
In our factory in Enschede we produce the rotor blades for our turbines. This is the only production location for rotor blades in the Netherlands. The blades are made of glass fiber reinforced epoxy, a composite material.
