HR Director
Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Hybrid)
Compensation: $150,000 + benefits
CV Resources is partnering with a rapidly growing private equity-backed retail company to identify an experienced HR Director to lead and scale the human resources function during a period of significant expansion.
The company currently has ~400 employees across multiple states and is positioned for 3x growth over the next several years. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for building HR infrastructure, transitioning away from a PEO model, and developing scalable people strategies to support continued growth.
This role will report directly to executive leadership and oversee one HR team member, with the opportunity to expand the HR function as the organization grows.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of the company’s HR strategy in alignment with rapid organizational growth.
Manage the transition from a PEO to an in-house HR model, including benefits, payroll coordination, compliance, and internal HR systems.
Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategy.
Develop and implement policies, processes, and HR infrastructure that support a multi-state workforce.
Oversee employee relations, performance management, and leadership coaching across the organization.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
Partner with leadership to drive culture, engagement, and retention initiatives during a period of rapid expansion.
Manage and mentor the existing HR team member, with responsibility for building out the HR team as the company scales.
Evaluate and implement HR technology, systems, and processes to support operational efficiency.
Qualifications8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles.
Experience supporting high-growth or private equity-backed organizations strongly preferred.
Prior experience transitioning organizations off a PEO or building HR infrastructure in a scaling company.
Strong knowledge of multi-state employment law and compliance.
Demonstrated success building HR processes, policies, and teams in growing organizations.
Experience partnering with executive leadership on strategic HR initiatives.
Retail, multi-location, or distributed workforce experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR) is a plus.
