Human Resources Business Partner
Location: New York, NY ($110,000 - $140,000/yr)

We are partnering with a premium retail brand to identify a Senior Human Resources Business Partner who will act as a senior advisor to U.S. leadership and play a central role in aligning global people strategy with regional execution. This individual will help shape the employee experience, strengthen leadership capability, and ensure HR practices support both commercial objectives and brand standards.

Working in close coordination with an international HR team, this role will translate enterprise-wide initiatives into practical, market-specific solutions while maintaining consistency in culture, values, and operational discipline. Success in this position requires strong business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Organizational Strategy

Collaborate with senior leadership across the U.S. to implement talent strategies that enable business growth
Lead workforce planning, organizational design, and succession initiatives aligned to market needs
Leverage workforce analytics, engagement data, and external benchmarks to inform decision-making
Represent U.S. priorities and insights in global talent and workforce discussions

Talent Management & Performance

Execute performance management, compensation, and talent development programs within the U.S. market
Support internal mobility and succession planning in line with broader organizational frameworks
Partner with leaders to enhance team effectiveness, accountability, and inclusive leadership practices

Payroll Oversight

Manage the full U.S. payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance
Act as the primary liaison with third-party payroll providers
Review and validate payroll inputs including hires, exits, compensation adjustments, bonuses, and benefits deductions
Conduct payroll audits and approve final submissions across all applicable jurisdictions

Employee Relations & Legal Compliance

Act as a senior escalation point for complex employee relations matters
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment regulations
Lead investigations, organizational changes, and termination processes with appropriate risk management
Partner with external legal advisors when required
Oversee immigration and work authorization processes

Employee Experience & Culture

Deliver global engagement initiatives with a localized approach tailored to the U.S. workforce
Use employee feedback and retention metrics to drive continuous improvement
Promote initiatives that support wellbeing, inclusion, and a strong sense of belonging
Reinforce ethical leadership and alignment with brand values

HR Operations & Data Management

Implement HR policies and programs with a focus on operational excellence
Maintain accurate HRIS data and utilize reporting tools to support business decisions
Ensure local practices remain compliant while aligned with global standards

Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility

Integrate sustainability and social impact priorities into people-related programs and initiatives
Proven experience operating as an HR Business Partner in a complex, fast-paced environment
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to connect HR strategy to business outcomes
Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR is advantageous
In-depth knowledge of U.S. employment legislation and HR best practices
Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders using data-driven insights
Advanced analytical skills with experience using HR systems and reporting tools
Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management capabilities
Ability to handle multiple priorities with precision and composure
High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity
Comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving business environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
